Traditional Donabe Hand-made By Naoto Inaba
When we re-opened Eleven Madison Park and transformed our menu in 2021, we began cooking in a range of different vessels. The Donabe has become one of our go-tos, and there is no one who makes more beautiful donabes than the artist Naoto Inaba, a fifth generation potter from the city of Iga, Japan.
A work of art that you can also cook with, each of these Donabes were made by hand in Inaba’s studio in Iga are designed to serve four people. They are all painted with traditional Hakeme-style brushstrokes, and include Inaba’s signature under the lid.
